We are deeply saddened by the loss of our eight comrades who fell on duty. It is hard to accept the early and tragic loss of these brave young men, who assumed difficult and high risk missions as defenders of the homeland skies.

The Romanian military brings a pious homage to the soldiers who lost lives today and our hearts go to their families. We do everything that is humanly possible to ease their pain in these tragic moments.

We are convinced all Romanians are beside the military personnel who grieve the death of their comrades.

I wish to send once more, on behalf of the Romanian military and from me personally, sincere condolences to the mourning families who grieve over their children, husbands or brothers.

May they rest in peace!
